School of Leaders Minutes- October 6, 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Highlights from The School of Leaders - October 6, 2009

Every month, the Twin City Cursillo sponsors a School of Leaders on the first Tuesday of the Month. The School of Leaders provides a place for new and time-tested Cursillista’s where they can 1) Learn more about Cursillo, 2) grow in spirituality, and 3) grow in Cursillo leadership knowledge and skill. Jesus says “Come follow me”. We say: “‘Yes Yes Lord’, because we have been to Leader School”.

The main event for October was a summary of the talks that our Lay Director/Assistant Lay Director team heard and witnessed at the  National Cursillo last August. A small snapshot of these important messages are:

  • National Cursillo hosts the National Cursillos to get a pulse on the great happenings in the local chapters, along with given chapter members to meet and learn from the larger community.
  • Simplify, facilitate, keep and promote the Cursillo method is the challenge for the TC-Cursillo leadership team.
  • The School of Leaders needs to be a place where the Cursillista can accelerate his/her role in being the hands and feet of Jesus.
  • The charism of Cursillo is to save our soul, save the souls of others, and be a leader in providing a solid Christian Community.
  • Piety, Study, and Action are the tools we provide the candidates to help achieve this Cursillo Charism. Sometimes we refer to this as our personnel encounter with our load and savior.

  • These tools are internal, part of our internal being and nurture and fuel each other.

This has been a tremendous awareness for our lay directors and assistant lay directors, which they also agreed to have a follow up discussion on this same topic at the October Secretariat meeting

At our November Leader School, Twin City Cursillo is proud to present Kathy Springer from Crete Nebraska, who will be putting on for us a mini-workshop on Sponsoring. Kathy is a member of the Cursillo Movement’s National Secretariat. This will be a condensed version of a ½ day workshop that she has presented for national events and also for other local chapters. Some of the things she will be telling us are: Purpose of sponsoring, the sponsor’s responsibilities, the selection process, and more.

Apostolate without Prayer is empty; Prayer without Apostolate is a lie.
