Jesus said, "....the kingdom of God is in the midst of you." Luke l7:21b

As we pen this article, the men's weekend #271 is in the annals of Cursillo history and the women’s weekend is about to commence. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit was obvious while listening to the testimony given by the men at the closing. We trust that the Lord will also embrace the women with His infinite love.

The weekends are truly inspiring and uplifting, yet the three day weekend is only the gateway to fulfilling our call to be the hands, and voice, and presence of Jesus Christ to others, where we live, work, and play.

Our Grand Ultreya on November 7th was GRAND indeed. We were spiritually nourished with a probing presentation by John Crudele and mass with Archbishop Harry Flynn presiding along with our Cursillo priests and deacons.

The Archbishop's words to Cursillo were for us to continue fostering and promoting the gospel message. His homily connected to Jesus' words from the gospel reading. We are to be a people of forgiveness. When we forgive from our hearts, things happen. We are set free from resentment, bitterness and hatred. We reflect Christ on the cross when we forgive, whether we've been wronged unjustly or not. As Jesus was experiencing His torturous death, death of our innocent Savior, He prayed, "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do."

In forgiving others, we allow the Holy Spirit to plant seeds through us for God's kingdom. When forgiveness appears to be beyond our human limitations, the Lord can make possible what appears to be impossible and heal the deepest wounds.

John Crudele began his presentation at the Grand Ultreya by lighting a candle. He asked, "If each person were to light one little candle, how much brighter would our world be?" A kind word, a prayer note, a positive comment, an optimistic outlook, a positive attitude, or traveling the extra mile, may be all that is needed to brighten another's life. Let our light shine and so give glory to our Father who is in heaven.

We were asked, since we are all pilgrims on a journey, our destination with God's grace is to enter the very throne room of God Almighty. How will those we've left remember us? Was our commitment to follow Jesus Christ 24-7? Could our light have burned brighter? Did I go the extra mile? Cursillo provides a method for us to maintain the course through grouping and ultreya.

Just think how great it will be to hear those words, "Well done, good and faithful servant;..... enter into the joy of your master." Matthew 25:21.

This Grand Ultreya brought all of our Cursillo communities together. Praise God.

Advent is here, a beautiful time of the year. A time to immerse ourselves in the season, it's beauty, it's color, it's busyness. and the presence of the Christ Child. Have a blessed and Spirit filled Christmas.

Saved by grace

September 05 Regional

The Fall Regional Encounter was held in Hebron, Nebraska. We are in Region VI which includes the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, North and South Dakota. Our Twin Cities Diocese was represented by Marilyn Presseller, Sue Kempf and John and Mary Jelinek. The workshops on Saturday included four presentations on the Precursillo Section. The purpose of Cursillo is to make Christian Community possible in our homes, neighborhoods, work situations and the other places where people live the greater part of their lives. It attempts to make it possible for anyone in this world to live a Christian life in a natural way. This is accomplished by first transforming the individual. The individual can then bring Christ into the lives of others.

Precursillo is probably the least understood part of the Cursillo method but it is the most important element of the movement. A strong Precursillo enhances a strong Postcursillo, and a strong Postcursillo is dependent on an active Precursillo. Candidate preparation is an absolute necessity.

Candidates must be prepared for both the Three Day Weekend and also for the life afterwards. We must explain what the Cursillo method is to future candidates and the importance of Grouping, Ultreya and participation in the other Fourth Day activities. It is with this support that the new Cursillista receives the reinforcement and continued Grace to bring Jesus into their every environment. It all begins with candidate selection and education. Our ‘Pink Brochure’ titled “Cursillo Sponsoring Guidelines” is extremely helpful in explaining this process. It is available at your Ultreya, Leader’s School or from your Ultreya Representative.

The next Regional Encounter is in April; the workshops will focus on Postcursillo. Anyone can attend and all are invited.

De Colores!
