Renewing hearts
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within in you” Ezekiel 36:26
This is our first Kindling message as Lay Directors of Twin Cities Catholic Cursillo. It’s a bit of a daunting task yet it feels so comfortable and is, in many ways, like writing a letter to a loved one. As a group of people none are closer to our hearts than you. None have given us so much over the years as you. This past year we have renewed so many deep friendships sparked by a great weekend some time ago. We marvel at how the joy and excitement all comes right back as we bump into each other here and there. We have felt your affection and support so strongly. We thank God for putting us amongst you. It is all so very refreshing and invigorating to be in your midst. You renew our hearts and we are grateful to you and the God we serve.

See You Soon!
Giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father… Ephesians 5:20
As we begin the New Year 2012, we would like to thank you all for your love, support and prayers during our term as Lay Directors of Twin Cities Cursillo. It has truly been a gift to have had the opportunity to serve and learn from you. You have guided and inspired us. You have been companions on our journey as Lay Directors and the time has flown by in a flash!
We have to wonder if there are similarities between our own journey and the journey of the Magi to the Christ Child. Did they ask, “Who me?” Did they have caring, hugging, and supportive companions on the journey? Were they uncertain about what gifts they had to offer to each other and to the Christ Child? Did they marvel at how God took care of obstacles along the way? How did they come to understand that the discernment process for important decisions is a journey of trust, patience and joy? After deciding to follow the star, how did they experience the peace and joy that can only come from God? How did meeting Jesus change their lives?

'Tis the Season!
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High... Luke 1:31-32
We have been blessed with such a beautiful fall season; it does not seem possible that December has arrived. Yet a glance at the calendar, strings of lights throughout the neighborhood, holiday tunes on the radio, and a stroll through the mall serve as reminders that the shift to the holiday season is upon us! Before getting too caught up in the flurry of shopping and "to-do" lists, perhaps we could pause in our preparations. Take a deep breath, step off the treadmill, and take in the special moments as they come.
Contrary to many media proclamations, it is Advent that prepares us for Christmas. The readings, the excitement and the energy transition us from ordinary time and to the extraordinary celebration of Christ's birth within us. As Cursillistas, have you considered that a simple tripod/stool could be a powerful tool for us this holiday season?

Onward!
The Lord said to her in reply, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her." Luke 10:41-42
In late September, we were fortunate to go with 16 people, including 11 from the Spanish Community, to Rapid City, SD to attend the Fall Region 6 Encounter. The English Encounter topic was Post Cursillo and focused on the importance of living out the 4th day. This month we will share some learning's about Ultreya from the Fall Encounter, invite you to come back if you have not attended in a while, and communicate its importance to the Cursillo Movement.

Lost in Translation!
I will bless the Lord at all times; praise shall be always in my mouth. Psalm 34:2
One of the most used and maybe least understood terms in Cursillo is the word "Environment". We can't speak for you, but we can attest to the many discussions the two of us have had about how the Cursillo movement utilizes this term.
A talk at the 2011 National Cursillo Encounter in San Antonio simplified the term and gave some clarity to how the term is intended to be used and understood by the 4th day. Here goes!
First of all, we need to understand that all Cursillo documents were written in Spanish by the founder of Cursillo, Eduardo Bonin. Translation of meaning and intent from Spanish to English is very difficult. Anyone who is bilingual can verify that it is not easy to manipulate sentence structure and word meaning to get a literal translation between the two languages.
