Right now it’s that anxious time period for Twin Cities Cursillo. Cursillo’s #305 & #306 are set for October 22nd – 25th and November 5th – 8th. St Victoria’s in Victoria is anxiously looking forward to hosting the weekends. Our teams of servants have been in Formation since the 21st of September and our Rector and Rectora have been focused on these coming weekends since last February. All is in motion and soon we will see how the 4th-Day answers Cursillo’s call of Make a friend, Be a friend, and Bring a friend to Christ. Sponsoring is the engine that ensures the continued growth and vitality of Cursillo.

Sponsoring is still the only way new blood is introduced to the movement. Each one of us is reading this article, or using it as a bird cage liner, because somebody invested the time, energy, and love into sponsoring us. Our sponsors opened us up to the idea of spending a weekend with Jesus and then they held our hand through the process – once we finally said yes. We are closer to Christ today as a result of somebody else’s intentional efforts.

Sponsoring can do as much for our growth in faith as it does for those we sponsor. We grow closer to Jesus as we place His plan and will ahead of ours. Through service and sacrifice (sounds a lot like Palanca doesn’t it?) we become more compassionate and open to Christ’s love in our lives. As the love of Christ flows to us it also flows through us and onto those individuals we meet in our environments. We are transformed and strengthened as we serve His desires. Plus we share Jesus with others to boot. And all this can happen when we make an effort to sponsor – who knew?
